Of the Thirteenth Week in Ordinary Time

• Matthew 8:28-34 Christians, consider this following statement carefully, for the value belonging to it should be realized, Matthew testifies: that two demoniacs cried out, "Have you Jesus come here before the appointed time to torment us?" From this statement, we should realize that the demoniacs knew that their time was coming to an end and they also knew that they would be tortured! In the psalms we have this phrase: until the pit be dug for the wicked. Therefore, Christians, realize that Christ Jesus's Gospel is not a philosophy of how to obtain world peace, but it is the judgment of humankind; it is the salvation of humankind; and it is the way, the truth, and the life of God the Heavenly Father the creator of heaven and the earth; moreover, it is the time of judgment of the world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. Therefore, when we go forth to all nations – yes, read that clearly and rightly and with the depth of realization – when we go forth to all nations, that we are to preach repentance and remission of sins and this must be preached in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Nazarene, who was both fully man and fully God, but who now is the Risen Savior, Jesus Christ and is fully God, our great high priest: whose kingdom we first seek, while we also first seek the Righteousness of God the Heavenly Father. Now Christians, the Lord Jesus came across these two devils in the territory of Gadarenes, which is about 80 miles north-east of Jerusalem or about 130 kilometers. Christians, we read an interesting thing here that is not testified directly, but it is alluded too, clearly: this being, since these devils, the demoniacs were tremendously fierce that people would avoid passing through this area. Yet, we do not hear of the thankfulness of the people, who were now independently free to pass through this area's territory. Rather, strangely, instead of Jesus Christ being hailed as a hero for cleaning the area of an enemy demon, history reports that these people asked the Lord Christ Jesus to depart out of their coast; little did they know that Jesus is Lord and all things are His because all things are God the Heavenly Father's. Now, these devils knew they had no choice, but to obey the Lord Christ Jesus — this power Christ Jesus also gives to His Apostles and disciples, but only to carry out the Will and purpose of God the Heavenly Father: for God's glory not theirs. So, these demoniacs begged and pleaded, suffer us to go away into the nearby herd of swine and Jesus said; make it so. Then the devils rushed into the herd of swine, and threw themselves headlong unto the death of the swine: the demons themselves as suggested by scripture were sent to wander in a waterless place or as the Apostle Peter testifies, some are held in chains – not metal chains but spiritual chains – until judgment and so that they may not enter into any other humans. So now Christians, let us learn from the Prophet Amos: Amos tells us straight out something that we all know and something that we must do in order to be righteous by faith in the Lord Christ Jesus. Still, what we do not always understand is: what does God testify, unto us as what is evil. Amos testifies: seek good and not evil that we may live; and so, the Holy Spirit may be with us; again, so God the Heavenly Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit may be with us as we testify. Christians, the Psalmist testifies: you love the LORD, hate evil: God the Heavenly Father preserves the souls of his saints; he delivers the souls of his saints out of the hands of the wicked. Now Christians, understand this clearly: the world will try to convince us that evil is something that is made up by Hollywood — trying to reshape evil itself into characters who wear masks and tights, flying around like some superhuman; and teaching that only some superhuman can combat evil. However, this reshaping of evil by Hollywood is complete nonsense; it is simple allegory and fiction. The reality is as we all know and have always known: real evil is what God calls evil – the same evil that brought judgment upon Sodom and Gomorrah, before the commandments were even written. Truly Christians, this evil is not confronted by imaginary heroes, but by each of us choosing the Light of Christ Jesus, repenting, believing the gospel, and preaching it to all nations. Now Christians as we venture back into this testimony from Amos, the Prophet of God teaches us some instructive things: we are to hate evil and love good, and let justice prevail at the gate. Now the thing is with Amos and with Isaiah and with other Prophets of God the Heavenly Father, they all testify the same thing: your mass is like a shameful deed unto me, because you stand in murder, homosexuality, disobedience, idolatry, covetous, and the bearing of false witness. Yes, Amos testifies, that your solemnities, God hates them and takes no pleasure in them; neither will God take pleasure in the smell of your grain offering; nor will God take any pleasure in your fatted beasts – your meat offering that you offer for prayers of peace. Truly, God simply spurns the Israelites, under the King of Judah, Uzziah and the King of Israel, Jeroboam II, and tells the Israelites: away with your noisy songs and your melodies, I will not hear them. Still, God being gracious; because he takes no pleasure in wrath and was not going to take pleasure in the coming wrath of the dispersion, offers them repentance, saying: turn away from your injustices, the serving of the flesh instead of living in accordance with God's Gospel; letting justice and judgment run down like waters, and goodness, that being the faithfully seeking of God the Heavenly Father's Righteousness till it flows like a mighty stream. Now Christians, in the name of the Lord Christ Jesus let us pray and be thankful. Amen.

Of the Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time

• Matthew 10:1-7 Christians, glory to the Lord God the Heavenly Father, creator of heaven and the earth: for he knows his obedient children and his disobedient children; moreover, he knows that he will reward each of them according to their deeds. Truly, the Lord Jesus will send forth his angels, and they will gather out of the kingdom all things that offend and them who do iniquity; then these will be cast into a furnace of fire where there will be wailing and the gnashing of teeth. Yes, Christians, as the Lord Christ Jesus testified and as we who have been blessed, by him, and now wait with eager anticipation for his coming in glory and also the resurrection of the dead — Jesus being the resurrection and the life — we testify as Christ Jesus did testify: thus shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth and sever the wicked from the just, and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Yes, Christians, for the Son of Man, the Lord Jesus Christ, shall come in the glory of God his Heavenly Father with his angels: and then he shall reward every man according to their works. Yes, Christians the hour is coming in which all that are in their graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth: they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. Truly, there is not a time when there is or will be a permissiveness of sin; there is only this time as it has always been stated; since the battle over wickedness that Christ Jesus did overcome and now, as we people, when we are choosing whether to live in Christ Jesus's Gospel of spirit and life or whether to prefer darkness, and each will have their reward. The thing is Christians, do not be deceived; for idolatry is as much of a sin as is homosexuality, as are all the sins of the flesh. For God is light and in him there is no sin; now, if we say that we have not sinned, then we are liars. For all have sin and fall short of the glory of God. Therefore, know with certainty that the time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand; all must repent, and believe in the gospel of spirit and life that the Lord Christ Jesus did bring to humankind. Yes, Christians our brethren the Apostles, who did comprise the apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, they being faithful to the Lord Christ Jesus's gospel of spirit and life: these twelve are still the only worthy examples and faithful examples, the pattern and the true clergy of Christ Jesus's Church. Yes Christians, this then is the apostolic Church of Christ Jesus: there is Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, James, Thaddeus and then Matthias, who was chosen by these eleven remaining Apostles. The Apostle Paul was appointed by Christ Jesus on the road to Damascus, but all others after these are not Apostles. Yes, Christians, Jesus instructed the Apostles: "do not go into the pagan territory or enter a Samaritan town. but only to go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel!" Still, Christians in this authority that Christ Jesus insisted, he later demanded, insisted, commanded, and commissioned the Apostles and all disciples to go forth to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem and to preach, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ repentance and remission for sins. The Apostles and disciples were to be faithful witnesses of the life and truth that they received from the Lord Christ Jesus. Yes, Christians, repent and believe in the gospel for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Now Christians, as we move forward into this prayer let us associate the word vine with what the Lord Jesus Christ says about the true vine: Jesus testifies that he is the true vine and that God the Heavenly Father is the vine grower or as we say also: God the Heavenly Father is the true husbandman. Jesus testifies about how those who believe in him must remain on the true vine! For if they are not living in accordance with the true vine, the words and teachings of Christ Jesus's gospel, then they can do nothing and this applies to all disciples then and now. Still, in Hosea, this prophetic book, this courtroom book, the covenant-lawsuit book – a book where humankind is summoned as the defendant, where people are being accused, examined and shown how they broke the covenant and to top it off, they broke the covenant even when they were rich with material wealth; for their hearts were false. Today, in Christ Jesus, we have covenant breakers, who take the spiritual justification, the preaching of remission of sin and sinfulness as an occasion to commit the sins of the flesh. When the Apostle Paul testifies that all things are lawful for him, he is not saying that sin is lawful: he is saying: because he lives according to the spirit and walks according to the spirit, and since he lives in the spirit, he is not living or walking in the fleshly doings, known as the fulfilling of the lust of the flesh. Truly, Christians, Jesus Christ did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill the law that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit, the Holy Spirit. Now, Christians, in the name of the Lord Christ Jesus let us pray and be thankful. Amen.

Memorial of Saint Bonaventure, Bishop and Doctor of the Church

• Matthew 11:25-27 Christians, in a way this scripture testimony in Matthew challenges us all: for none of us want to be considered: immature, childlike, babes, simple-minded, or infants; it strikes our pride, if we would but admit this truth. Still, let us also consider that this testimony challenges, in a like manner, as does the Apostle Paul, saint when he teaches the Corinthians: "For the wisdom of the world is foolishness with God." In both of these verses our pride is pitted right smack up against the world — the ridicule of the scorners, mockers and the cynics and as well, the arrogance of the intelligentsia, the academia, and the proud. Yet even more than this, let us also realize — that our pride can keep us from the truth of the Lord Christ Jesus. Yes, truly Christians the consequences of not knowing Christ Jesus's way, truth, and life are stark; they are frightful. Jesus testifies; it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Yet, still, Christians, let us consider the testimony that these verses in Matthew sum up. For the Lord Jesus is teaching in various cities and towns. John the Baptist had heard about Jesus, and sent some of his disciples to inquire about him. These disciples of John were told; tell John that the blind receive their sight; the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed; and the deaf hear; the dead are raised and the poor have the gospel preached to them – blessed our the poor, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Jesus teaches — that the people went out to see John the Baptist because he was a prophet, telling these people — that of all the people born of women there has not risen a greater individual than John the Baptist. The Lord Jesus testifies of how; up until the time he came into the world that the kingdom of heaven had suffered through violence, and that the violent took it by force. Jesus testifies, that John the Baptist is indeed Elijah who had come again, yet people did not recognize John because Elijah was an enigmatic and formidable prophet while John was the Baptist: Elijah open the eyes of the Israelites to the false god's of Baal while John the Baptist called people to repent of their sins and to be washed in baptism. Vividly, the Lord Jesus describes the present generation as children sitting in a market – that a song of truth, life and the way was sung unto them, but they preferred darkness and did not dance to the light of the Gospel of spirit and life. Again, Jesus testifies, although we have mourned unto you – grieved over bringing the truth to people; scoffed by his own family and townsfolk — as something less than the Christ that he was, saying — that a prophet is known to all but his own people. And again, we see this same sort of thing testified by the Apostle Paul, saying: we are well known, yet regarded as unknown; we are regarded as poor, yet make many rich; and we are regarded as having nothing, yet possessing all things. Then, the Lord Jesus unbraids the cities of Chorazin and Bethsaida, testifying – that at the time of His return, when he comes to judge the living and the dead – that it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah: for they would have repented if the Gospel of spirit and life had been brought unto them; as it has been given to this present generation, this generation of the Lord Christ Jesus. Yes all of these things were said to the people who had come to hear Jesus the Nazarene testify — that the kingdom of heaven is at hand repent and believe in the gospel. Yes, Christians then the Lord Jesus Christ summed up all this that he had preached with the verses in regard: thank you God the Heavenly Father, for you have made known and revealed your gospel of truth to the babes, but have hidden this self-control, this temperance, this kindness, goodness, this love and charity, this patience, gentleness, generosity, this faithfulness, and joy from the arrogant, the wise and the prudent. Then the Lord Jesus extols God the Heavenly Father by saying, such is your gracious Will. Yes, such is your gracious and righteous Will, God our Heavenly Father. Then Christians, in this next few lines from this gospel testimony from the Lord Christ Jesus, he qualifies four things: one, all things have been handed over to him by God the Heavenly Father, His Father, our Father. Two, no one knows the Son the Lord Jesus Christ except God the Heavenly Father himself; yes, the Apostles and disciples had seen him and known him, but not in the way specified in this phrase by Christ Jesus himself. Then, three, no one knows God the Heavenly Father except the Son the Lord Christ Jesus. And then four, when Jesus qualifies too an entire category of individuals, saying: to those he himself has chosen to reveal God the Heavenly Father's way, truth, and life, His Gospel of spirit and life, the Holy Spirit, and God's gracious and righteous Will – these are who the Lord Christ Jesus reveals God. Yes, Christians, let us sing out praise and thanks giving: Blessed are you, God the Heavenly Father, Creator of heaven and the earth, for you have revealed to those who, you have chosen: the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven. Now Christians, in the name of the Lord Christ Jesus let us pray and be thankful. Amen.

Feast of Saint Mary Magdalene
• Song of Songs 3:1-4
• 2 Corinthians 5:14-17
• Psalms 63:2-6 & 8-9
• John 20:1-2 & 11-18 Christians, it would likely be an ill consideration to call Mary Magdalene an early riser; truth be told, she was more likely unable to sleep. If not for the Sabbath, Mary Magdalene would likely have spent an entire night and day and night at the tomb, but that would not have served God's purpose. So, the truth of this reading is more than likely, Mary Magdalene's restlessness was so grave that she could not endure one more moment lying in bed, and she had to hasten to the tomb even without understanding how she would have entered; being as, there was that huge stone rolled against the entry. Christians, here is a preface of deduction; Simon Peter, Apostle and the one who went with him ran to the tomb. They inspected it, and found that it was empty. They then returned to their home. All the while, Mary Magdalene was near the tomb's entrance-weeping. It is strongly unlikely that two men dressed in white could have walked past her, without her noticing, but it is more than likely that two angels of God appeared in the tomb, and then Mary Magdalene being close enough to the tomb's entrance — that they called to her: "woman why are you weeping." So in this little speculation we arrive at the results that truly, angels of God had entered the tomb, and were there for something – while, being there inside the tomb, they communicated with Mary Magdalene. Truly, Christians, this next consideration is more than most remarkable, and astonishing hardly fits, the spiritual emotion that we must trust — as we experience — when we read of the moment, that Mary Magdalene recognized the Risen Savior the Lord Jesus Christ. This moment touches our heart with a depth of spirituality; we can hardly fantom. Imagine yourself after you have been placed in your tomb, and the next moment you are there standing in the place awaiting Christ Jesus's final judgment. The change from being alive one moment, on the planet earth, dying, and then knowing that you are dead in this world. Yet, then, all within the same moment, you realize that you are in Christ Jesus's kingdom or you realize you are — not in his kingdom, but are within the gates of perdition. This kind of astonishment and bewilderment is something unreasonable to comprehend, but it would be the frame of mind that Mary Magdalene found herself. Yes, Christians, when she realized that the gardener was not the gardener, but was the Risen Saviour our Lord Jesus Christ: she likely could hardly breathe or stand or keep the water from running from her eyes. It had to be the most tremendous emotional moment a person could ever experience, and could only be equaled by the moment, when the Lord Jesus comes again with his angels and brings justice and judgment upon the earth. Now Christians, in this next line of testimony from the Lord Jesus communicating with Mary Magdalene, we receive the testimony, which the church seems to not address. This testimony is also something that we as Christians seemingly do not embrace in the truth of the words Jesus Christ testifies. For Jesus testifies that he will ascend to his Father and to our Father; and that he will ascend to his God and to our God. There are other things we should realize from this testimony from the Lord Jesus Christ. First, as Jesus states: His Father is greater than he is. Still, this does not mean; that Jesus is not one with God the Heavenly Father; he is. It does not mean; that all authority has not been put into his hands; for all authority is, indeed, in the hands of the Lord Jesus Christ. Moreover, also, it does mean that God knows the Son, and the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ knows God the Heavenly Father in a way that only the Son of God, the Messiah Christ can know God, the Heavenly Father. Now, Christians, what this does mean is that God the Heavenly Father is our Father, and that Christ Jesus has given unto us the glory that God gave unto him. It means; that we are God's Children and that Christ Jesus is the Son of God and that we are to first seek the kingdom of heaven and the Heavenly Father's righteousness. Yes Christians, let us realize that idolatry is real; where there should be faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and with the saints on fire — like the burning bush with the fire of the Holy Spirit – we see that there is faithlessness. Christians, we see a clergy that seeks man's wisdom and enticing words. Whereas, we are not seeing the fruits of the Apostle Paul's testimony flourishing; rather, we see their absence. We see that our faith is standing in the wisdom of men, but our faith must stand in the power of God, the Lord Christ Jesus's gospel of spirit and life. Yes, Christians, let us remember what God our Heavenly Father testifies and thus too, the Lord Jesus Christ testifies: that the Israelites inherited lands and the labors of a people, so that they may observe God the Heavenly Father's statutes, commands, and decrees, and keep his law: worshipping God only and only serving God the Heavenly Father. Praying also that we will continue in Christ Jesus's gospel of spirit and life, and realizing that every knee will bend and every tongue will confess that Jesus is the Lord. Now Christians, as we first seek the kingdom of heaven and the Heavenly Father's righteousness; let us confer this testimony from 2 Corinthians, when the Apostle Paul testifies: the old things have passed away; behold, all things are become new. Yes, Christians, Christ Jesus put to death the sins of the flesh in his body, but what does this mean: does it mean that we can commit murder now, disregarding God's commandment; thou shalt not kill: of course not. Does it mean that we can commit adultery now, disregarding God's commandment; thou shalt not commit adultery; of course not. Does it mean that we can steal now, disregarding God's commandment; thou shalt not steal: of course it does not mean this. What it does mean is that Christ Jesus has given us the power – through the Holy Spirit — to overcome our own flesh; we are no longer slaves to our flesh. It also means — that if we do sin — that if we then repent of our sin and this repentance is of a true repentance and is in earnest, then because Jesus Christ is the sacrificial lamb, we will receive forgiveness for our sin. Still, grace is not permission to sin; rather, it is what we receive, when we have turned away completely from our sin and sinfulness and this turning is according to God, the Lord Christ Jesus's satisfaction, not ours. Moreover, the person who knows how to do right, but chooses idolatry, they deserve a great beating. Now Christians, may God our Heavenly Father raise His hand against all such idolatry. Moreover, Christians, it is God that gives this beating — not some self-righteous people, who they themselves are idolaters. Clearly, Christians it is indecent and unclean; and instead of confessing our temptations and desires — some clothe their immorality with the dress of oppression and not the liberty that Jesus Christ brought to humankind: such doings are against God's word. For we are to live according to Christ's Jesus's gospel — knowing that we are all one in the Lord Jesus Christ. Now Christians, in the name of the Lord Christ Jesus let us pray and be thankful. Amen.

Memorial of Saints Martha, Mary and Lazarus

• Psalms 59:2-4, 10-11, & 17-18
• John 8:12
• John 11:19-27 Christians before we get into the time where many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary's home, let us go back to what preceded, namely, the Apostle Thomas saying: let us go into battle with our Lord – for Didymus said to his brethren; let us go with him, that we may die with him. Now Christians, to recap, so we get the entire doings and not a select testimony to form a conscience of partiality rather than a conscience that is informed: for Thomas says this thing; let us go, so we may die with him. Because the Jews near Bethany, which is near Jerusalem – just over the Mount of Olives walking eastward about 15 furlongs — were out to kill Jesus: because they did not like his politics or his religion even though he is the Son of God. Christians, the point of understanding is to have an informed conscience, so as to know and understand, that although Jesus Christ is the truth of what love and life is — there is nothing warm and fuzzy about his ministry. Let us affirm Christ Jesus's way, truth, and life in our hearts and minds so as not to distort it into a falsified gospel that misleads people into a false reality. Wherefore, so we will build our lives on the solid foundation of Christ Jesus's words and teachings, His Gospel of spirit and life, and not some fairy tale gospel that does not realize truth and does not realize differences and distinctions. For Christ Jesus's gospel does demand repentance and does expose sin, and we are to build our lives on the gospel that does understand, recognize, and see the way, the truth and the life. For the Lord Jesus Christ testifies: if they hated me, they will hate you; if they rejected my words, they will reject yours, and if they persecuted me, they will persecute you – this then is the Lord Jesus Christ's gospel and there is nothing warm and fuzzy but there is peace, joy, charity, gentleness, generosity, patients, love, self-control and faith, serving the one and only God, the God of creation, the God of Abraham and Jacob-Israel and the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ. Now, let us look at something in a completely different setting: here we have Thomas urging on the brethren to go back to Jerusalem and die with Jesus: for they must have concluded this would be the outcome of going back to Bethany at that time. Yet, on the night of the Last Supper, they all scattered; almost as if it was God's plan and purpose for them to do so; still, we see that they were not cowards but influenced by circumstances. Now Christians, as we venture back to this Gospel testimony, we see what could be, the many faces of Martha. For she says to Jesus, "If you had been here!" This could be the despair of anger that he was not with them; it could be the realization of Jesus would have saved Lazarus's life — if only he had been there; or it may have been other variations of positive and negative realities. Yet, the Lord Jesus responds to none of this that Martha is bringing to him: for the Lord Jesus Christ is bringing to her the most magnificent, unfathomable gift — that is essential for humankind to see, realize and understand. For it is the hallmark that testifies of eternal life for humankind: Lazarus being brought back to life, by the Son of God the Messiah the Lord Jesus Christ helps to show us — that we all will have eternal life in the Lord Christ Jesus. Still, the grand finale is when the Savior and Christ and Messiah Jesus, the Nazarene himself rises from the dead after being placed in the tomb, before the beginning of the Sabbath and rising from the dead the first day of the given week. Then Christians, as we continue in this reading we see something very clearly. What we see and should realize is that Jesus of Nazareth is identifying himself. For the Lord Jesus, Martha, Mary, and Lazarus's friend tells to Martha: that Lazarus will rise. Yet, Martha did not understand Jesus's language, and interjects: oh yeah, I know he will rise at the resurrection on the last day. At this point in the Lord Christ Jesus's ministry, he has never made this claim, but now: by the circumstances and the surroundings – near Jerusalem, a well-known family, people, this family, who were trusted and beloved by the Elders, the Pharisees, the scribes, the priests – Mary, Martha, and Lazarus were all very well-known individuals with standing and reputation in the community, and were regarded, respected, and honored, and then the Lord Jesus testifies; I am the resurrection and the life! Yes, Christians, we know that Lazarus did rise from the dead, and that people were in awe of the Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth. Yet, on the other side — away from the people — the priests of the Sanhedrin, the Pharisees as the lay teachers, and the scribes as the legal experts were at the height of their selfishness and the only thing they could think of was plotting to kill the Lord Jesus Christ. Yes, Christians, it is an interesting thing; for the Pharisees, who themselves were not even apart of the Levites' tribe and the Sadducees, who only claimed — without proof descent from Zadok – Priests of the First Temple under King David, and were actual descendants of the Levites — took it upon themselves to be the authority, and strangely, it appears some followed their lead, rather than the Torah law itself: let us not forget that Jesus exposes that they were plotting to kill an innocent man, which the Law of Moses allowed no such perversion. Still, we must say: that even though Jesus, the Nazarene was an innocent man, whom they plotted to kill; yet, apparently — in their minds — this council of Priests and others fabricated a moment of justification, which arose from fear of their hearts, jealousy of power, and covetous of popularity with the excuse of saying: the Romans will be upset with us if Jesus continues; so the plot to kill Jesus went forward! So now Christians, let us finish this cogitation, this meditation, this prayer with praying in the name of the Lord Jesus and giving thanks for life. For through the Lord Jesus Christ all things were created; and all things were created by him, and created for him. Therefore, with the Lord Jesus Christ coming again; we know, understand, and realize that Jesus is the rightful judge to determine the course for the living and the dead, and of his kingdom there is no end.
