Memorial of Saint Charles Lwanga and Companions, Martyrs

• 2 Timothy 1:1-3 & 6-12
• Psalms 123:1-2
• John 11:25-26
• Mark 12:18-27
Christians, the person who is of God hears God's word. Be that as it may, the Sadducees were deniers of angels, the supernatural, and rejected prophetic scripture – they would not receive the word Jesus testified or His presence. This is also true of the Pharisees; they did not know the Lord Christ Jesus because they erred: they did not know the word of God, the Scripture nor the power of God. If we consider the Sadducees and their creed for a moment; it is a complete wonder how in the first place did they give any credit to Moses! Being as, Moses talked with an angel at the burning bush; and God the Heavenly Father brought his wrath down upon Pharaoh – not only to free the Israelites -- keeping his promise, but also to make himself known. As well, the entire episode of God on Mount Sinai; yes, it is little wonder that the people became perverted and errored – given the fact their leaders only gave lip service to God the Heavenly Father. Moreover, these priests, scribes, Pharisees, and Sadducees believed they understood the ways of men better than God the Heavenly Father could ever know or understand. Yes Christians, it is truly telling and pathetic how the Sadducees came to test the Lord Jesus, as they devised inapt schemes; because their minds were blinded to who Jesus truly was. The Lord Jesus Christ was not simply the carpenter boy that grew up in the town of Nazareth; rather, Jesus is the Son of God the Heavenly Father and brought God the Heavenly Father's gospel unto humankind; because, he is God the Heavenly Father's Gospel the word made flesh. Now the Lord Jesus was not being proud or arrogant; rather, he simply knew things that no other human creature did know or could know, being as he is the Son of God the Heavenly Father and is eternally present. Yes, we may say that the Sadducees and the Pharisees studied the word of God; yet, when the word of God stood right before their eyes, they could not see or understand. For in as much as they read, studied, and were the common day authority of God's word, in their hearts and minds, they did not believe, in God, nor his word, but believed in the Temple and the temple tax: they believed in temple authority not the word made flesh. Yes, Christians what Christ Jesus testified is indeed true: seeing they see not; hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. Yes Christians, we see the Lord Christ Jesus testifying to the Pharisee, Nicodemus; although not in the same exact words, but in the same pattern of understanding as he did to the Sadducees, Jesus testifying: that he told them of earthly things and they did not believe, how shall they believe, if the Lord Jesus Christ would tell them of heavenly things. Again, Jesus testifies unto the Sadducees, saying: are you not misled because you do not know the Scripture or the power of God? The Lord Jesus asked these Sadducees, they who did not believe in angels -- so likely their minds and hearts were blinded – about what the angel said at the burning bush! Now as we all know it testifies, God the Heavenly Father, through an angelic messenger at the burning bush told Moses that he was the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then, with this one sentence the Lord Jesus, with what is deep concern, and not in any way that is insolent said, unto the Sadducees that God the Heavenly Father is not the God of the dead but of the living; indeed, the Sadducees were greatly misled. In another thing for understanding, Christians: this marrying tradition of a brother taking up his brother's wife to raise up a descendant to the first brother is like unto circumcision: it is a tradition, but it will not lead to salvation and is another one of those things that the Lord Christ did fulfill. So, now Christians, let us move along next in these readings to the letter from Paul, saint and apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ, Paul who was commissioned and appointed by God for the promise of life that is in the Lord Christ Jesus, His gospel of spirit and life. Let us first consider and look at this; for the Apostle Paul is telling us that he prays night and day. Yet, he also tells us that he is doing this in a pure and clear conscience, and it is something that he has done from the time of his forefathers. Yes, Christians, if our conscience is not clear or pure when we pray to God the Heavenly Father, we should first take the steps to repent of our sins and make any amends that we must, so that our conscience will be pure and clear and then yes, continue in our prayers night and day. Now the Apostle Paul is praying in this reading from the book of Timothy and he is praying specifically for three things: grace, mercy and peace. Now what we should know straightaway is that these: grace, mercy and peace are not as the world understands these things, but as God the Heavenly Father has given them unto us; moreover, we should not attach worldly substance to these God given blessings. For Christians when we attach worldly meaning and substance to these: grace, mercy, and peace, we then can through error give place to darkness instead of living in the light of the Lord Christ Jesus and the light of the Holy Spirit. We are to be the light on the hill and not a false light that gives place to sin and sinfulness, which is actually a light that pretends to be light, but is actually darkness. Then, we know the Lord Christ Jesus asks this: if the light that is in you is darkness, how many things that are of darkness have you given place too? So now Christians, let us see: Christ Jesus's grace is not a blood sacrifice that allows us to live and walk in our sinful flesh, but is a grace that allows us to walk and live in the spirit of God our Heavenly Father's way, truth and life. Now, let us consider God's mercy; the first thing to know is that God's mercy is not indifference. Jesus said to the adulterous woman, go and sin no more, and this was mercy. The Lord Jesus Christ did not say to her go ahead and continue in your sin, nor would the Lord Christ Jesus ever say continue in your sin and while you are at sinning -- why not take up some fornication or homosexuality, which if a person ever chose these things, it would be turning themselves over to reprobation and sinfulness. Again, mercy is a kindness to those who have broken the law, but it does not relieve them from the consequences nor the penalty. Yes, we must repent, but repentance means bring forth fruits worthy of repentance, so in some cases this means being thrown into prison for your punishment to see if you are bringing forth fruits of repentance or whether you are trying to play on the mercy of God and those who are obedient to God. The next thing the Apostle Paul prays for Timothy -- is for peace; this is not worldly peace. For Christ Jesus did not come to bring worldly peace but a sword. The peace that Christ Jesus brought unto humankind is a peace that goes beyond all understanding: it is the peace; while being in a ship, on the sea that is being tossed and ready to be sunk, but because of Christ Jesus's peace -- through the Holy Spirit in our hearts and minds, without explanation to ourselves, we have peace. It is also this truth that Saint Paul testifies: God did not give us a spirit of fear, but gave to us the Holy Spirit, a spirit of good judgment, of spirit of truth, a spirit to seek after God the Heavenly Father's Righteousness with all our hearts, minds, souls and strength, and with the love that God gave unto us. It is a peace that reminds us that we have been called to a holy calling -- not according to works, so that no man may boast, but according to the Lord Christ Jesus's way, truth, and life. Now Christians, repent and believe in the Gospel for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Therefore, Christians let us pray continuously in the name of the Lord Christ Jesus and be thankful, eternally, Amen.

Of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time

• 1 Kings 18:20-39
• Psalms 16:1-5 & 8-11
• Psalms 25:4-5
• Matthew 5:17-19
Christians, we should realize that Christ Jesus is testifying the Words and Teachings that God the Heavenly Father gave unto him to bring to humankind, and as well, we should realize that God the Heavenly Father through the Prophet Ezekiel said these very things – not in the exact words: yet in the exact testimony and interpretation, Ezekiel testifying: David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgment and observe my statutes, and do them. Moreover, the Lord Jesus testifies of other sheep who are not of the fold of the Israelites and they too, the Good Shepherd, Christ Jesus must also bring into the one-fold and the one voice, and these: the one voice and the one-fold is Christ Jesus's gospel of repentance for the remission of sin, and then there will be one-fold and one shepherd. Okay, then there is this from the Apostle Paul, he testifies: that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit. The Apostle Paul testifies clearly about what are the works and deeds of the flesh and also testifies clearly what are the works and deeds of the spirit. Therefore, Christians, there is no place to be given for the imaginations of reprobation that pretend that the works and deeds of the spirit are somehow -- if we simply pretend that there are no deeds of the flesh; whereas, the Apostle Paul testifies that the spirit and the flesh opposes one another; the flesh has desires that are against the Spirit. Christians, in the same concrete--true to life manner, as the Apostle Paul testified, God the Heavenly Father through Ezekiel prophesied against the shepherds of Israel; Ezekiel testifying, that God was against the shepherds of Israel for feeding themselves and not bringing, his words, and teachings to the people; that God was against Mount Seir; God was against Pharaoh; that God was against Tyrus. Christians let us see, when the Apostle Paul testifies that the flesh desires against the spirit, he means the entire list of things that are known as the works and deeds of the flesh: then, when the Apostle Paul testifies that the Spirit desires against the flesh, he means that the Holy Spirit is against sinful behaviors. The Apostle Peter testifies this: Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims to abstain from fleshly lust, which war against the soul. Moreover, the Apostolic Peter testifies; that the true disciple of Christ Jesus is to feed the flock of God, and the Apostle Peter means: to feed the flock with Christ Jesus's Gospel not a worldly gospel. That we should testify to those individuals who are right there with you. Yes, Christians we are to take this shepherding, this oversight of the flock not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre: that is preaching and testifying for material gain, humankind's wealth, but rather we are to testify with a ready mind that teaches the flock, Christ Jesus's Gospel for the perfection unto the glory of eternal salvation, that being the gift Christ Jesus brought to humankind. Therefore, Christians, when the Lord Jesus tells us that he did not come to abolish the law or the prophets, believe him, and first seek the kingdom of heaven and the Heavenly Father's righteousness. Yes, Christians, so that we may know because of Christ Jesus sending us the Holy Spirit, we now can overcome our sinful flesh. Yes, the Holy Spirit reproves us of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. Yes, Christians, sin because they do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Righteousness, because Christ Jesus is indeed seated at the right hand of the Heavenly Father and will judge all according to the words that he did testify unto us. Judgment: because the prince of this world is condemned. Yes, Christians, Christ Jesus testified of the bad steward, who was trying to serve both God and mammon; yes, Christ Jesus testifies to us of the prodigal son, who goes after the world and its lusts with the wealth that he has, but then -- sees the light and repents: returning to God the Heavenly Father's way, truth, and life. As well, the Lord Jesus testifies: greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Jesus Christ then says: if you are my friends, that you will do what I command you. Now, Christians realize, that Christ Jesus commands us to do and to live and to be in truth and to do life, and the only way to do these is in his gospel of spirit and life; and yes, Christ Jesus's Gospel is the way of truth and of life. Now Christians, David the king expresses this psalm: show me your way, Lord God Heavenly Father; teach me your paths, and lead me in your truth and teach me: for God the Heavenly Father you are salvation: and on you Lord Christ Jesus I wait all day eagerly awaiting and watching for your return. So Christians, what we see is God the Heavenly Father did answer David's prayer and has shown us his paths and has guided us in his truth; for indeed, Christ Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Now Christians, in the name of the Lord Christ Jesus let us pray and be thankful: realizing that the kingdom – meaning all of creation: the heavens, the earth, and all the things listed in Genesis that God spoke into being -- in the seven days of creation are his. As well, the power is his; for he is indeed God. The glory is his – meaning all of these things; the mysteries of the universe, all the animals on the planet earth, and all the human creatures on the planet earth, and the plants, trees, the skies, and the oceans are his, and they are good; they are glorious. Yes, Christians and it his God's honor for he is indeed the creator. Amen.

Of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time

• 2 KIngs 2:1 & 6-14
• Psalms 31:20-21 & 24
• John 14:23
• Matthew 6:1-6 & 16-18
Christians, the Heavenly Father's Righteousness, which we are supposed to be seeking first, along with the kingdom of heaven is the way, the truth, and the life that we must seek -- all through the day and daily: God's Righteousness is not something we do to receive accolades of approval. Rather, the seeking of Christ Jesus's righteousness is for the salvation of our souls and our eternal reward. Jesus, the Christ is quite blunt about this proclamation, testifying: that we Christians will receive no reward from God the Heavenly Father, if we make a showing of righteous deeds for the parties approval; rather, the righteousness we live is so we may give glory to God the Heavenly Father and so we may do the works that Christ Jesus did. Mainly, so that we may go forth to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem and preach repentance for the forgiveness and remission of sin, declaring that we must believe in Christ Jesus's Gospel of repentance and testifying that the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Moreover, as little children: in faith and in the Gospel's love, we are to do these things without being embarrassed of Christ Jesus's Gospel. Truly the Apostle Paul testifies his determination to testify only of Jesus Christ and him crucified. That the weakness that he experienced gave an empathetic trait and made his hope: that ears would hear; and eyes would see; and minds would understand all the more appealing. Yes, in the hope, so that those individuals who hear the Gospel of spirit and life would work out their salvation in Christ Jesus's way, truth, and life. The Apostle Paul declared that he did not testify or preach with enticing words of humankind's wisdom, but the Apostle Paul demonstrated Christ Jesus's gospel in the Holy Spirit and of power. Now, the Apostle Paul writes these things to the Corinthians and so to all Christians, so that our faith would not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Whereas, today, the conversation that is happening, by some: is the giving place to sin and sinfulness, instead of repentance for our sins, and this conversation is placated by man's doctrine: for Christ Jesus's doctrine is repent or you will perish: yes, repent and believe in the gospel of spirit and life for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Now, Christians, do not be mistaken; for although righteous deeds may be the giving of alms – our Lord Christ Jesus gave something all the more precious and important, that being his Gospel. Truly, Christians, as the Lord Jesus Christ testifies himself; that the words and teachings he gave were far more life giving and important than the miracles he performed. For the miracles were only as a means to identify the Son of God, the creator of heaven and the earth. Consider the testimony about Saint John the Baptist's disciples, when they asked the Lord Jesus: "Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?" Now Christians, what did the Lord Jesus answer these disciples of the Baptist, Jesus said: tell John to remember the works that the Prophet Isaiah did testify about the Messiah – the Christ, the works that he would do: the blind were healed, the lame were healed, and most important the eternal Gospel of spirit and life was preached to the poor. Yet, Christians, the Lord Christ Jesus also does testify about the giving of alms, and if we consider this giving: we should realize that it is of the same manner as doing righteous deeds. For if we give alms, give donations, so that the party will see you give them, and then with pride you move through your day: this than is the way of a hypocrite: seeking the praise of men and your neighbors. Whereas, when we give alms, we are to give them for the glory of God and give them in a manner – that is of Christ Jesus's way, truth and life – anonymously, so as the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. Truly, as faithful servants of the Lord Christ Jesus, we are to put on the armor of God being servants fully equipped – shield in the left hand, sword in the right hand – standing firm in the ministry of Christ Jesus and praying our prayers to God the Heavenly Father, in secret, and not as a display of vanity before the congregation. Yes, Christians, the Lord Jesus Christ is testifying about three things in this reading: righteous deeds, alms giving, and fasting, and in all three of these, we as Christians can do them in a manner that is pleasing to God the Heavenly Father or in a way, where God the Lord Christ Jesus gives us no credit at all. Therefore, if we fast, do this service to God the Heavenly Father and not so people will credit you. Again, if we are called to a fast, do it for the glory of God and not as part of a movement or so people will see you, but so God, the Lord Christ Jesus will see and then in prayer and doing the works that Jesus did – as the Lord Jesus Christ testifies himself, we may then ask and God will reward us according to his purpose. Now Christians, in the name of the Lord Christ Jesus let us pray and be thankful. Amen.

Solemnity of Nativity of Saint John the Baptist

• Isaiah 49:1-6
• Psalms 139:1-3 & 13-15
• Acts 13:22-26
• Luke 1:76
• Luke 1:57-66 & 80
Christians, what do we know about the arrival time for an expectant mother: is it not a time filled with emotions: joy, fear, happiness, sadness, and also, there is the being tired and the anxiousness, the wonder, the hope, the unknown, and so many questions that our heads spin faster than the world; and yet there is love and peace and smiles: between husband and wife, parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles, and family and friends. As well Christians, if we allow ourselves to learn instead of clinging to being coddled and indulged, do we not also have the moments where there is jealousy and scorn and the provoking of woman to woman because the child is being born and the blessing received. Then too, there is occasion of great celebration of women to women of a child being born. We can find examples of both these situations within the Bible's Testimony, and we should learn from them – not ignore them as fabled examples. There is the provoking by Peninnah towards Hannah, for Hannah was childless, then Samuel came and many women rejoiced with Hannah. There was the jealousy between Sarah and Hagar; when it was Sarah's own works, and truly, disobedience of faithlessness toward God our Heavenly Father, which led to not only the provoking but the consoling of Abraham. Then there was Naomi rejoicing over Ruth's child Obed, for God did not leave Naomi without kinsman, and the rejoicing of Ruth and Naomi and Boaz was triumphant joy. Then too, Christians, there is the testimony of Elizabeth rejoicing over Mary's child, and Mary and Elizabeth were elated to the-heart-filled joy of motherhood and life. So yes Christians the testimony is when the time arrived for Elizabeth, but the life behind this sentence is so much more! For it also contains the salvation of humankind through the Lord Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah. Still, it also testifies of those who are blessed and holy who have part in the first resurrection: for upon these the second death has no power and they shall be priest of God and of Jesus Christ and reign with Father and Son a thousand years. Still, Christians, this is not the end of the life, reward, and history of what is to come through this life of John the Baptist. For the eternal judgment and war of God the Heavenly Father sending fire down upon Magog is also to come, and much more: and so, yes it is the time now of seeking life, justice, liberty, truth, and God's Righteousness. For although heaven and earth will pass away, God's word will not pass away: God's word is eternal. So Christians, see and realize all the blessings that stem from this one life of John the Baptist, he who baptized the Lord Jesus Christ and so brought forth the new covenant between God and man, that being, the Lord Christ Jesus. Therefore, now Christians, as we consider this next sentence, next line of testimony about Elizabeth's neighbors and relatives, let us with the love of Christ Jesus in our hearts and minds remember Jesus's teachings and build our lives upon them: the blessing of those who curse us; the forgiving of those who covet. but also the justice and righteousness of God the Heavenly Father: of the praying for those who despitefully use us – praying that God's Will, will be done, Abba Father. Yes, and let us do good to those who hate us: let us faithfully do Christ Jesus's gospel in our hearts and minds; and yes, let us love our neighbor as we love ourselves, treating others as we want to be treated, and yet still, remembering that we are called to be holy and that part of holiness is not turning a blind eye to injustices but seeking justice in God the Heavenly Father's Righteousness, which does not give place to idleness or covetous or the calling of evil good or good evil or the calling of bitter sweet and sweet bitter. Yes, Christians. let is drink the fresh water of spirit and life that is Christ Jesus's gospel of repentance for the forgiveness of sin and sinfulness: let us drink of the eternal water of the Lord Christ Jesus. Now Christians, continuing with this testimony about Elizabeth, we see also how people testified about how the Lord had shown his great mercy toward her, and as good neighbors, they rejoiced with Elizabeth. Still Christians, let us -- not go right past this testimony too fast, but let us slow down and realize and meditate upon it -- discovering the great miracle, and how God the Heavenly Father brought a human impossibility into being. Therefore Christians, so as with Sarah, the wife of Abraham, God the Heavenly Father opens the womb of Elizabeth, wife of Zechariah - according to his timing, marking emphatically the birth of John the Baptist. Yes, Christians, now cast you minds upon the time when the angel of God told Zechariah, and all the time between then and the visiting of Mary, the Blessed Virgin. Also, the time after Mary returned to her home and then the time of up to the moment of Elizabeth giving birth to John, who became known as The Baptist. Christians, what may have been the conversation between Zechariah and Elizabeth? They may have asked; what is God the Heavenly Father's purpose for this child? Daily as Elizabeth baked bread and prepared meals, she likely sang in joy for the child John: for they knew the child would be a boy and that he was to be named John. Now Christians, in the name of the Lord Christ Jesus let us pray and be thankful. Amen.
